I’m Louisa and I live in Edinburgh with my husband, Craig and two young boys, Adam and Angus. Keeping fit and healthy has always been a priority for me. Yoga is a great way to build strength and focus the mind. I started practising yoga around age 14 but really started feel the mental health benefits when working full time in a stressful job as it allowed me that time to switch off. During my pregnancies, yoga really became a huge part of my life to maintain strength and prepare my body for birth through breathing, movement and relaxation.

Postnatally, I became fascinated with women’s health, pelvic health and recovery from pregnancy and childbirth. Yoga was the perfect class that I could practice with my baby, whilst meeting other local mums.

I grew so passionate about the benefits of yoga at the different life stages and wanted to share it with you all which is why I started up my own business. I have a strong desire to help others like me calm the mind and build up strength and flexibility – whilst having fun. The yoga classes I offer are suitable for beginners with more advanced options if you choose them. I love finding new poses and sequences for my clients whilst keeping it accessible.

Qualifications

  • 200 hour YogaBellies Teacher Training specialising in Women, Prenatal and Postnatal

  • 50 hour Birth Rocks Mentor

  • 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training certified by My Vinyasa Practice

WHY HUMMING TREE?

I’ve always loved being out in nature, especially out in the woods. I find it so peaceful and calming. I knew I wanted my business to reflect this feeling. I was born and spent a few years of my childhood in the US and Hummingbirds always remind me of being there and how relaxing it is watching them fly and feed, hearing their wings whirring and their bird song. In yoga we practice Brahmari, a humming bee breath which I find so calming.

The tree symbolises family trees and I am here to support you, whether you are growing your family or want to join my family community, connecting local people through yoga practice.

Yoga Classes in Edinburgh West and Online

YOGABELLIES FOR PREGNANCY

Wednesdays 6:30-7:45pm Holy Cross Church,

Nurturing, flowing yoga classes to help you build strength, bond with your baby and prepare for your birth. We cover a different topic each week related to pregnancy, birth or beyond, giving you the chance to build your support network, connecting with other local mums. I teach breathing techniques to help you relax and prepare for labour and birth, release tension and reduce any anxiety you may be feeling. You will learn yoga postures safe for pregnancy and I always give modifications so you can adjust your practice to how you feel that week. We always end with a beautiful, calming, guided relaxation to aid sleep and leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.

Classes are suitable from 12 weeks to birth, even if you’ve never tried yoga before!

Class duration - 1 hr 15 mins.

Classes are booked in 8-week blocks for £98 or 10 weeks online. Blocks are rolling so you can start any week. If you are due sooner, I can do a shorter block for you. Get in touch if you have any questions.

PARENT AND BABY YOGA

Thursdays 10-11am or 11:20-12:20pm

These classes are a perfect blend of yoga for you and yoga stretches with rhymes and songs for baby! We will focus on building strength and stamina safely, with adaptations to suit your body. I will also show you how to adapt your yoga practice with baby. I will guide you through the haze of exhaustion, as we practice breathing techniques and relaxation to help depleted energy levels.

We do yoga with babies to encourage their bodies to grow and develop, creating a fun and beautiful bonding experience for you and baby. This class is very baby led so please don’t worry if you baby is crying, feeding or needs changed.

Suitable for any level, even if you've never tried yoga before, from 6 weeks after a natural delivery and 8-10 weeks after a c-section. Babies from 6 weeks until they are on the move!

Class Duration - 1 hr

£66 for 6 weeks

ONLINE WOMEN'S VINYASA CLASSES

Wednesdays 8:30-9:30pm Online

Online Classes give you the freedom to join from wherever you are without the hassle of travel or needing to get out of your comfies. You'll get access to the recording, as well as extras to boost your practice and overall wellbeing. Get in touch to join our online community!

Flowing and strengthening yoga classes focusing on connecting your breath to movement, helping to quiet and focus the mind. You will learn breathing techniques to help relax you and ease life's stresses. We will end with a guided relaxation for the body and mind to leave you feeling refreshed and energised.

These classes are suitable for beginners but with more advanced modifications to take if you choose, helping you tailor your yoga practice to you.

I have been doing the mum and baby yoga classes with Louisa now and I cannot fault them in any way. We have done the classes both online and in person and the way Louisa has managed to adapt to the changing restrictions has been amazing. It’s a class not only for baby but also for mum as well. It is always the highlight of our week and my daughter absolutely loves them, oh and Louisa my daughters face lights up when she hears her voice. Definitely one of the best mum and baby classes out there and cannot recommend them enough!!

Your breathing, positions and mantras were incredibly powerful for me during my 16 hour labour! I honestly believe every pregnant woman should do yoga ahead of birth, it’s just so valuable in so many ways. I could actually hear you saying ‘breathe baby down’ as I delivered, and the mantra ‘breathe in strength, breathe out tension’ was my go to one for all surges!

Louisa is a wonderful yoga teacher whose classes are friendly and relaxing. Her pregnancy classes were excellent for preparing for birth and I always appreciated all the adaptations that were offered for different postures. It was so nice to be there in person and the way you set up the hall made it feel like a lovely little yoga retreat - an oasis of calm for an hour!

I love Louisa’s class. It is just what is needed to slow down and relax. The postures all have variations which is perfect if there’s something that doesn’t suit your body. I always sleep so well after the class too which is a bonus

Cannot recommend classes with Louisa enough! I’m a complete novice but Louisa gives excellent advice and variations for the movements and I feel very reassured through the entire session. The stretches were amazing for my back, and I left the class feeling so relaxed!
